Great Gravy Cookies


  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 small jars beef flavored baby food
  • 6 tablespoons beef gravy
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350 F Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl Lightly pat your hands with flour and shape the mix into a big ball k-9 cakery Flatten the ball using a floured wooden rolling pin Use a cookie cutter to cut the dough into triangles or stars~Place the cookies on a greased cookie sheet Bake for 25 minutes, or until lightly browned Allow cookies to cool before serving

You may need to add extra flour to make the above recipe dry enough to roll out. To test them on different sized dogs, try a bone-shaped cookie cutter about 4 inches long, and another about 2 inches long (cut the baking time a bit for smaller cookies).Just in case your dog is flour-intolerant, you can try the recipe with spelt (available at most health food stores). You can leave out the salt (your dogs probably won't miss it. After a week of no refrigeration the biscuits seemed fine, but you can test yourself to see if it extends the shelf life. More than likely, your dogs will not allow you to store them.
